写真家エドウィン・モニコの個展を、2026年4月3日(金)～4月12日(日) 13:00～19:00 (金土日のみ)に、横浜・石川町のLAUNCH PAD GALLERYにて開催いたします。移動と近接性を特徴とする環境において、人々は私的なデジタル世界に没頭し、都市の中に静寂の瞬間を生み出しています。下を向く視線や孤立した姿勢といった微細な仕草に焦点をあて、同じ空間を共有する人々の間に存在する静かな距離感を浮き彫りにしています。この作品は批判を目的とするものではなく、つながりと孤立が共存する中で、人々の注意や存在感の在り方が変化している様子を映し出しています。展示をご高覧いただけたら幸いです。

「『Phones』は、個人用デバイスの存在が公共空間を静かに変容させていく様子を探求する作品です。

絶えず動き続ける都市の只中に静寂の瞬間が生まれます。人々は足を止め、画面に没頭し、その世界に浸りきっています。

これらの写真は、物理的には近くにいながら、心理的にはどこか他の場所にいる、共有された空間にいる人々を捉えています。スマートフォンは、つながる手段であると同時に障壁ともなり、注意をどのように割り振り、存在をどう感じるかを一変させています。

演出や介入をせず、姿勢、視線、群衆の中での孤立といった、微細な仕草に焦点をあて、身体が空間を占めているにもかかわらず、注意が別の場所に向いているという、可視性と不在の間の緊張関係を映し出しています。

『Phones』は批判ではなく、現代の生活がいかに静かに再構築されているかについての考察です。孤独とはもはや「一人であること」ではなく、「別の場所にいること」にあるのです。」

“Phones explores the quiet transformation of public space in the presence of personal devices.

In constantly moving cities, moments of stillness emerge: people pause, absorbed, and suspended within their screens.

These photographs observe individuals in shared environments who are physically close, yet psychologically distant. The phone becomes both a tool of connection and a barrier, reshaping how attention is distributed and how presence is experienced.

Rather than staging or intervening, the work focuses on subtle gestures: posture, gaze, and isolation within crowds. The images reflect a tension between visibility and absence—where bodies occupy space, but attention exists elsewhere.

Phones is not a critique, but a reflection on how contemporary life is quietly reoriented. Where solitude is no longer found in being alone, but in being elsewhere.”
